Twenty TWO

I know I won't get to do these "monthly" pictures for very much longer, but I'm trying to do it until at least the big 2 year mark. It's nice to have something to chronicle her age through the photo albums, etc.

Golden Birthday!

Presley is 20 months old today! And since she's 20 months on the 20th, that makes it her "golden birthday". Usually we would be talking about years, but since we are still in the month stage, we'll go with that.

Try to excuse the dribble shirt. That's water from the sippy cup, not just drool. : )
Studying everything. . .

And this is her totally "out" on the whole picture taking thing. She's just plopped down on the floor not really giving a care at all about posing for the camera. : )

Dallas Zoo

Since we have recently tried out the Ft. Worth Zoo, we wanted to be fair and try out the Dallas Zoo, as well. I know that Ft. Worth is supposed to be one of the best zoos in the nation, but Dallas is making a bunch of renovations to compete. So we went and gave it a chance.

Presley walked around and loved looking at all of the animals. They were easier to see than at the Ft. Worth Zoo since the areas are a bit smaller. They had less places to hide from us! So she loved that. She has recently been fascinated with Rhinos - in books that we've been reading. So she was really interested to see one in real life.

I think this was the lion that just kept prancing back and forth perfectly in front of the window. That was fun to see!
What kid doesn't love a giraffe?

The jaguar was another one of the animals that were much easier to see at the Dallas Zoo.

What does an alligator say?....Snap! (as his jaws slam shut)

Presley loves penguins: books, stuffed animals, real life...all of them! So we spent a good little chunk of time at this tank. There was one little penguin in particular who would swim right in the front -back and forth- and seemed to be just playing with us!

Owens Farm

In the metroplex, there is an Owens Farm (like the sausage) that you can visit. So we went to see what it was all about.

They give you a cup of oats for the goats so you can go and feed them. It took Presley a little while to warm up to the goats. She never wanted to actually feed them, but she was much more interested in them after a while.
They come right out of the fence at you...

Walking around one of the barns.

They have several huge draft horses (similar to the Clydesdale horses) at the farm. You can't really tell from the picture just how big these things are.
Adorable, aren't they? And to think that some people keep these "pets" in their houses. No, thanks. Presley liked seeing them from this side of the fence, though.
Such a farm girl. Leaning on the fence looking at the baby horses and their mommas.

The Heard

The Heard is a Natural Science Museum and Wildlife sanctuary fairly close to us so we decided to try it out a few weeks ago.
It has all these gorgeous nature trails that you can walk on.

Presley really had a great time looking at all the trees and the plants and everything else. She was so interested that she walked pretty much the whole time and it was over a two mile trail.
They have a butterfly exhibit there right now that was pretty interesting and they also have a few animal exhibits. Presley loved both of those. They had a couple of ring-tailed lemurs that went flying around and around...loved them! But her favorite were these Wallaby's. They are like miniature kangaroos and those things went hopping all over the place. We must of stared at them for a solid 15 minutes. And she loved every second of it!

Ft. Worth Zoo

Getting ready to begin the adventure.

There are monkeys back there. . .

This was the lion that was supposed to be in that last picture. : )
Just relaxing in the wagon, letting her parents do all the work.

And Just in case you've always wondered:
At our house,
--monkeys say "Ahh, Ahh"
--elephants talk in sign language
--penguins say "Whee!"
--roosters say "Doo"
--and those crazy giraffes just keep saying "Yum, Yum"
